[And so Raistlin went, entering the throne room deliberately, carefully, a bottle of wine in hand. Of course, he'd poisoned it...sort of. Since his poisoning of Richie, by and large anything toxic had been kept away from him, so he needed to improvise. He didn't know what would happen if he dumped all the medication the infirmary had given him for his bloody cough into the bottle and let it dissolve before heading off would do, but since they had bothered to put a warning on the bottle, he assumed it would do something.
As he walked toward Shendu, the man may notice Raistlin's lips moving, mouthing words, before Raistlin lifted one hand and...threw three darts of fire at Shendu. He hadn't been able to gather the components for a full fireball spell, so he figured a more minor spell would have to do.]
[The three bolts of flame landed without Shendu so much as flinching, even as it was igniting the cloth of his robe and scorching his skin, all he did was stare dispassionately at Raistlin, as the Shadowkhan flanked the sorcerer on both sides, to prevent his escape.]
Not unimpressive, I suppose. As far as attempts at treachery go... however, you did somewhat misjudge your means of attack, didn't you?
[Rising, his inhales briefly, before blasting the sorcerer with a huge plume of fire pouring from his lips.]
[The second Valmont began speaking, Raistlin realized the likelihood of a counterattack was high, and he reached into a pouch with one hand and prepared to either go on the offensive against the Shadowkahn or defensive against a counterattack against Valmont. When Valmont stood, Raistlin decided on the latter, throwing up a shield spell to block the flame. It did block the flame, too. However, it did not block the smoke, and soon Raistlin doubled over in a coughing fit, bloody spittle flying out of his mouth.]
[Shendu was smirking, as he watched Raistlin double over. The Shadowkhan surrounding him seized the sorcerer by his arms, and Shendu's expression shifted into a full blown sneer.]
You'll have a long, long time to reflect on this defeat, Sorcerer. Spend it wisely.
It was worth it. [Raistlin rasped out the words between coughs. He glances at the wine bottle. It was on the floor, unbroken. He must have dropped it while he was coughing.] I only regret that I didn't pay closer attention to your true nature.
[With his arms seized, Raistlin couldn't cast any further spells and so he let himself be dragged through the shadow into Zero.]
